VidRhythm is an audiovisual sequencing app, developed for iOS.  Users can sample sound and imagery from any source and the app will stitch them together to create a song.

Created by a small team within a large company, the timeline for this project was short but the process was sweet. With little space for speculation or reevaluation, the journey from wireframe to completion aimed for accuracy on the first go.

A tight research schedule was created to target when certain data could be gathered, and when each window of iteration closed.  Features crystallized on a build-to-build basis, and feedback was often analyzed the same day.  Ultimately, many of the sessions were piggybacked on playtests of Dance Central 2, whose participants were eager to stick around for an extra few minutes to check out a quirky little app.

My contributions included...
  • Evaluating use cases, trends and usability across a variety of demographics.
  • Precisely scheduling research and evaluation plans and quickly turning around results.
  • Working with the team to craft actionable recommendations within the small scope of the project.

Typical design questions
  • Which features are vital to a fun experience, and which complicate the flow?
  • How much control over the end product could the user have?
  • How do users want to save or share their work?
